The Hargrave Jacket in Fatigue Green

The beginning of any classic staple is fabric. Defining your intentions, from comfort to durability will determine the end decision.  Our main focus for the Hargarve jacket was durability, with that in mind, cotton canvas was our go-to fabric.

Utilized for generations in heavy jacket construction, cotton canvas is known for its toughness and longevity; most notably with army jackets.

The Hargrave Jacket in Fatigue Green by Mr Simple

Mr. Simple's Hargrave takes inspiration from the original fishtail anorak, originally created for the US Army in the 1940s. Its arrival into mainstream fashion started with a subculture, The Mod's that began in London in the 50's and 60's. Known for their love of fashion, music and scooters; usually a Lambretta or Vespa.

All great design aims to solve a problem. The features of the fish-tail anorak, as visually appealing as they are also serve a purpose. The three-quarter length allowed soldiers to keep warm whilst not hindering their movement. The fish-tail with in-seam draw-cords allows the wearer to tie each tail around their legs to keep the wind off them for extra warmth.

Inspired by the classic fish-tail anorak, Mr. Simple's created our own contemporary outerwear version, the Hargrave. A modernized version of on an old favourite, click to shop the Hargrave collection.
