Bluesfest Day One – Who Not To Miss

We understand that Bluesfest is quite the marathon. What we also understand is within that marathon you can find yourself sprinting. Bluesfest have tried extremely hard to produce a timetable for the long weekend without our favourites clashing. With that said, we have put together our list of who not to miss for the five days with Bluesfest’s mentality in mind of making sure there are no clashes, this is an extremely hard task and like the original we couldn’t.

Kendrick Lamar

The headline act of the festival with his only show at the festival. This is a must not miss act cramming a whole catalogue of critically acclaimed music within the 75 minutes provided.

Cold War Kids

A band that keeps on giving. Their spot of 8:30pm will be full of progression as they take us through their catalogue in what is also their only show for the festival.

Kamasi Washington

This guy is the epitome of cool. He is playing a couple of times over the weekend so there are no excuses.

Hiatus Kaiyote

Flying the flag on the Mojo stage for Australia on the opening night, Hiatus Kaiyote are the coolest band in Australia. Their shows are extremely fun. We are lucky enough to have them play twice over the weekend, both on the Mojo, both times playing a fundamental time slot which usually indicates their status in the music community.

The Wailers

This one is a clash, but it’s a notable mention not to miss these guys this weekend. It’s hard to fathom how these guy perform these albums without the man himself. There’ll be a lot of love for these magical four sets over the weekend.

Steve Smyth

Some local love for this legend here. Between himself and his band they put on a glorious show. Make sure you catch them over the weekend playing a few shows over the different stages.
