"Inspired by my artwork titled “Waterholes”, This design explores the strength of connection between Aboriginal people and the water systems that sustain life across Country.
Growing up on the coast, I experienced firsthand the importance of these waterways and the role they play in our connection to the places we live.
The central gathering forms represent these systems, places that have provided generations with water, shelter, connection and a place to come together.
The underlying lines surrounding the waterholes represent the rivers, creeks and underground water systems that move through the landscape, sustaining people, animals and plants. Water is more than a resource, it carries stories, knowledge and a deep connection to Country that continues to hold significance for Aboriginal people today."
