The overshirt earned its place somewhere between a shirt and a jacket — substantial enough to wear as the outer layer on a cool morning, light enough to not commit to a full coat. Fine wale corduroy and a quilted lining is the right combination for that middle ground: the tighter pile gives a cleaner, more refined look than its chunkier cousins, and the quilting adds warmth from within.

Pine is the colour that makes most sense here. A deep teal-green that shifts with the light — darker in the shade, richer in the sun — and sits well against denim, canvas or wool. Brass snap buttons, two chest pockets, two lower pockets, and a fit that layers easily over a heavy knit or a flannel without pulling across the shoulders.
